This year, the 22nd Strictly Functional Pottery National (SFPN) will be juried by Christa Assad.
Assad is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she is a productive independent ceramic artist. She is best known for her Re-Objectification series—teapot designs based on objects and buildings from American industry
Assad is a teacher and traveler, as well as full time ceramicist with an MFA from Indiana University. Her work is in the permanent collections of the fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, The Ceramic Research Center at Arizona State University Museum, and the Penn State Fulbright Scholar Collection. She was named, “Ceramic Artist of the Year”, in 2012 by Ceramics Monthly.
The 22nd Strictly Functional Pottery National showcases the best in contemporary American functional ceramics. The deadline to enter is June 1, 2014 with a late fee for entries until June 10.
